Chapter 27: A New Throne
by webnovelverseThe announcement came on a Monday morning.
The boardroom was packed. Reporters, analysts, employees—everyone who mattered in the world of VaneTech had gathered to hear the news.
Elena stood at the podium. Julian stood beside her. Not behind her. Beside her.
“Thank you all for coming,” Elena said. “I have two announcements to make.”
The room went silent.
“First, Victor Stern has resigned from the company and will be facing criminal charges for fraud, embezzlement, and corporate sabotage. His actions do not reflect the values of VaneTech, and we are committed to transparency and accountability moving forward.”
Cameras flashed. Reporters typed furiously.
“Second,” Elena continued, “I am honored to announce that I have accepted the position of Co-Chief Executive Officer of VaneTech, effective immediately.”
Murmurs rippled through the crowd.
“But I will not be serving alone.” Elena turned to Julian. “Julian Vane, the company’s founder’s son and CEO, will be serving as Chairman of the Board and my partner in leadership. Together, we will rebuild this company on a foundation of integrity, innovation, and shared vision.”
Julian stepped forward. “This company was built by my father. But it will be rebuilt by Elena Rossi. She is the reason I am standing here today. She is the reason VaneTech has a future.
The room erupted in questions. Reporters shouted. Cameras flashed. But Elena and Julian only had eyes for each other.
They shook hands for the cameras. But beneath the glass desk—the transparent desk that symbolized everything they wanted to become—their fingers lingered.
Just for a moment.
Then they turned to face the future together.
